The upcoming Schick 3X3 Cup will feature 40 of New Zealand's leading women and for National 3X3 Head Coach Justine Reed the November 12-14 event at ILT Stadium Southland couldn't come at a better time.
"I am looking forward to the Schick 3X3 Cup, it will be a great opportunity for the general basketball public in NZ to see what 3x3 is all about," said Reed.
"With the recent release of the 3x3 schedule for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth games, this is the first of hopefully many events within New Zealand that will help us prepare for the games.
"The fact that the Schick 3X3 Cup is also being broadcast live by Sky Sport is going to deliver great exposure for the game, and will hopefully help to continue to increase 3x3's popularity and participation numbers in New Zealand, which then helps our world rankings."
Tickets to the Schick 3X3 Cup start from just $8 (juniors) and $15 (adults) - click HERE for details.
In particular, Reed is looking forward to seeing who stands out for future consideration in New Zealand's women's 3X3 teams.
"It's great to see that the rosters of the women's teams have a number of players that have been through the NZ 3x3 national programme at senior and junior age group levels, along with a number of current and former Sky Sport Tall Ferns.
"I think that it will be a very competitive tournament with a great mixture of youth and experience and am looking forward to being able to evaluate these players from a 3x3 perspective.
"The investment by the participating NBL teams in preparing these teams for the Schick 3X3 Cup reflects the commitment of the basketball associations and franchises to the 3x3 game, which is very promising for our 3x3 pathways in NZ and overseas," added Reed.
