Ella enjoyed a remarkable junior career winning national championships galore with Waikato age-group teams and St Peter’s School, Cambridge.
St Peter’s won four Secondary Schools National titles and finished runners-up on the other occasion during Ella’s five years at the school. She made the Tournament Team four years on the bounce.
In her final high school year St Peter’s finished a highly creditable fifth, losing only one game, that at the High School World Championships in Crete.
Ella has spent the last two years at Utah State University Eastern and has distinguished herself on and off court.
She was chosen as the 2022 Utah State University Eastern valedictorian and delivered her farewell speech at the university’s graduation ceremony in May.
When she returns to the States after the Tauihi Basketball Aotearoa season she will head to the University of Texas at Tyler (NCAA Division II). There she will continue her Bachelor of Science studies.
Played for New Zealand at the 2018 FIBA U17 World Cup in Belarus.

Olivia Berry

Played all three games for the Auckland Dream in 2021 averaging 12 points per game.
Berry played her first season with the Dream in 2020 having previously played all her representative basketball for North Harbour.
Played at Rangitoto College with Kāhu teammate Jaycin Tini and Tall Ferns Ella Fotu, Brooke Blair and Penina Davidson.
Following high school played one year in Canada at the University of Calgary (2015-16).
Named Tournament MVP after helping Auckland University claim the 2019 National Tertiary Championship.
Away from basketball Academia is Olivia’s passion.
She is currently studying for a Master’s Degree in Theology having already acquired a Bachelor of Arts Double Major in Psychology and Criminology, an Honours degree in Criminology, and a Graduate Diploma in English.

Mackenzie Chatfield

A talented all-round sportswoman Chatfield has played for Westlake’s premier volleyball, netball, touch and basketball teams.

Martè Grays (Import)

Detroit born Gray’s enjoyed an outstanding basketball and scholastic career at De Paul University (NCAA Division I).
She played 133 games for the Blue Demons scoring 1,375 points as well as tallying 568 rebounds.
Gray’s also excelled academically where she majored in sociology with a concentration in Criminology – named to the Big East Conference All-Academic Team on three occasions.
She capped off her senior year (2018-19) by receiving a prestigious Scholar-Athlete award from the Division I Athletic Directors Association – the award is only given to 10 players a year.
Since university Gray’s has played in Greece and most recently in Slovakia for MBK Ruzomberok, the 2022 Slovakian Cup winners and European Cup challengers.
In the 2019-20, her first season out of college, she played for Bendigo Spirit in the Australian WNBL.

Ashleigh Kelman-Poto

A member of the Harbour Breeze 2020 Sal’s NBL Championship winning team. Named Grand Final MVP after an 18 points, 14 rebounds and 6 steals haul in the final against Waikato Wizards. Also named to the All-Star Five.
Attended North Idaho Junior College (2011-12) followed by two years at East Central University (NCAA Division II).
Older sister of Southland Sharks player Dom Kelman-Poto.
Played the 2021 season with Brisbane club Red City Roar in Australian NBL1 League.
Previously played three seasons with Gladstone Port in the Queensland Basketball League

Jazzmyne Kailahi-Fulu

Appeared in both games for the Breeze in 2021 and also selected captain of the Breeze 3×3 team.
A member of the Harbour Breeze 2020 Sal’s NBL Championship winning team – averaged 7.0 points and 6.6 rebounds per game.
Played for Williston State Junior College in 2020-21. Named to the All-Regional Team after averaging a team high 8.1rpg plus 14.8ppg.
Played on the New Zealand team at the 2018 FIBA U17 World Cup in Belarus where she was the team’s leading rebounder pulling down 9 rebounds per game. She also averaged 6.1ppg.
In 2019 Kailahi-Fulu was named to the Tournament Team at the U19 National Championships where she helped Harbour win the title.
Also named to Tournament Team at Secondary Schools Nationals in 2019 where St Mary’s finished third.
Named to the 2020 Junior Tall Ferns to Tour China before the COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of the trip.

Krystal Leger-Walker

Krystal played 142 collegiate games making 139 starts – a record for the most starts by a Kiwi in women’s or men’s NCAA Division I basketball.
Krystal made her collegiate debut back in 2016 when University Northern Colorado (UNC) Head Coach Kamie Ethridge inserted her freshman guard into the starting line-up.
Not long out of St Peter’s School, Cambridge, Krystal didn’t disappoint – playing 33 minutes she was one of only two UNC players in double figures (11 points), dished 5 assists and came up with 2 steals and 3 rebounds in her debut appearance.
She went on to play 88 games in three seasons at Northern Colorado (2016-2019), helping guide the Bears to the Big Sky Tournament Conference title and an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2018.
She then follow Coach Etheridge to Washington State University Cougars (WSU) where she also linked up with sister Charlisse.
Krystal enjoyed two productive years at WSU, playing in the elite Pac 12 Conference, leading the Cougars to consecutive appearances at the NCAA Tournament.
Leger-Walker handled the pressures of playing point guard with aplomb, her vision enabling her to chalk up 621 career assists at an impressive 4.5 per game.
Factor in 1,032 career points, 589 rebounds and 231 steals and the numbers demonstrate the all-court game the 24 year-old possesses. It’s also a pointer as to why she debuted for the Tall Fern’s as a teenager.
Krystal first played for the Tall Ferns as a 16 year-old back in 2014 then resumed her international career at the 2021 Asia Cup in Amman last October.
Leger-Walker has a degree in Business Administration and Finance and also embarked on her Masters studying Sports Management.

Tahlia Tupaea (Import)

Named to the Waikato Wizards squad in 2021 but did not play a game due to Covid travel restrictions.
Penrith born, with Tainui-Ngāti Tipa descent, Tupaea was the 36th pick by the Minnesota Lynx in the 2017 WNBA draft.
She became the second youngest debutant in the history of the Australian Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL) when she took the court for the Sydney University Flames in 2012 at 15 years and 133 days. Two years later she was a key member of the Flames WNBL championship winning team.
She has since gone on to play over 140 WNBL games, most recently for 2022 semi-finalists Canberra Capitals where she averaged 6.9ppg – shot the 3-ball at 40.5%.
Tupaea enjoyed an outstanding junior career playing for Australian teams at three World Championships. She played at the 2014 FIBA U17 World Championships in the Czech Republic and the U19 World Champs in Lithuania (2013) and Russia (2015), winning a bronze medal on both occasions.

Akiene-Tera Reed

Off the back of an outstanding NCAA collegiate career Reed is returning to her roots for her first foray in professional hoops.
A veteran of 135 NCAA Division I games the Tall Ferns wing is fifth on the all-time list of games played by a Kiwi woman in Division I hoops. She also amassed 1,624 points, just 24 points shy of eclipsing Erin Rooney’s all-time record of 1,647 points.
Following high school Reed accepted a 4-year scholarship at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU).
As a freshman, she led the VCU scoring averaging 13.8 points per game resulting in her being named to the Atlantic 10 Conference All-Rookie team.
She led the VCU scoring three seasons running, the rangy wing a key player as VCU won an Atlantic 10 Championship, and with it a berth at the NCAA Tournament in 2020-21.
Reed played her fifth and final college season at the University of Southern California Trojans under former Cleveland Cavaliers assistant coach Lindsay Gottlieb.
For the Trojans she averaged the most minutes on court (30) for the Trojans, the most assists (3.2 per game), the fourth most points (158) and the highest 3-point shooting percentage at 40%.
Won a WBC championship with Harbour Breeze in 2014.
Currently completing her Masters in Human Resources Management.

Keely Tini

The youngest daughter of Kāhu head coach Jody Cameron and sister of Jaycin Tini.

A member of the Harbour Breeze 2020 Sal’s NBL Championship winning team Tini averaged 8 points per game.
Tini played at Williston State Junior College in 2020/21 and 2021/22.
Averaged 9.6ppg at the 2017 FIBA Oceania U17 Championship in Guam where the NZ team won silver.

Jaycin Tini

The eldest daughter of Kāhu head coach Jody Cameron. Sister Keeley Tini is on a basketball scholarship at Auburn University at Montgomery (NCAA Division II)
A member of the Harbour Breeze team that won the WBC title in 2014 – in a good omen for the Kāhu that was the last occasion she was coached by her mum.
Played two years at Miles Community College in Montana followed by two years at the College of Idaho (NAIA). Played 53 games for the Coyotes averaging 9 points and 5 rebounds per game – graduated in 2017.
Signed to play for Gold Coast Rollers for the 2020 Queensland Basketball League (QBL) but Covid forced the cancellation of the League.
Played for the 2011 NZ U17 Team alongside Stella Beck and Penina Davidson.

Micaela Cocks

The 2008 Olympian is the most capped Tall Fern of all time has played 141 games in the black singlet.
Cocks is the only Tall Fern to have played at both the 2006 and 2018 Commonwealth Games. Won a silver medal in Melbourne and a bronze on the Gold Coast.
Was part of the 2018 Tall Ferns 3×3 Gold medal winning team at the FIBA Asia Cup in China.
The New Zealand Basketball Legend is returning to her roots having played for Harbour and Takapuna Grammar School prior to her outstanding collegiate, professional and international career.
Took up a scholarship at University of Oregon immediately after the 2006 Commonwealth Games playing 125 games in four seasons with the Ducks scoring 1,195 points.
A three-time Australian WNBL Championship winner with the Townsville Fire.
She has played ten seasons for the Fire since debuting in 2011. Missed the 2020-21 season due to the birth of daughter Hazel.
Holds the record for the most WNBL appearances for the Fire (240 games) and has been made a Life member of the club.

Madison Wolf (Import)

Wolf enjoyed an outstanding five year career at the University of Wisconsin- Green Bay (NCAA Division I).
She played 119 games for the Phoenix scoring 699 points as well as tallying 599 rebounds.
Following university Wolf followed her dream of playing professional basketball by signing her first contract with Speyer Towers club in Germany.
The 2019-20, season was cut short by Covid, Wolf playing 10 games before the German League was shut down.
She spent the 2021-22 European season playing in the Czech Republic for the Lokomotiva Trutnov club.
Wolf earned a Master’s Degree from UW-Green Bay in Applied Leadership for Teaching and Learning.
