The Pouakai set a Tauihi record with a superlative offensive performance taking down the opening game of the Tauihi season with a 121-83 victory of the Southern Hoiho. Marena Whittle led all scorers with her 30 points (8-9 3pfg) as the Pouākai poured it on from deep (17-39 3pfg) while controlling the glass with a 51-28 rebound advantage, which includes 24 offensive boards. McKenna Dales (22pts), Taylor Mikesell (20pts) and Exra McGoldrick (20)pts all crossed the 20 point mark as the Pouākai scored a league record 121 points, beating the former mark by an astonishing 33 points. For the Hoiho, Claire Jacobs (27pts) and Lil Dart (18pts) carried the load offensively, but foul trouble to starting point guard Paige Bradley proved too much to overcome.
