Result: BNZ Northern Kahu (66) are defeated by the Southern Hoiho (78)
The Southern Hoiho secured a 78-66 win over the Northern Kahu after a competitive start. Both teams struggled to find the rim early before Julie Wojta opened the scoring with a fadeaway two following a quick Hoiho steal. Lil Dart then carved through the defence to the rim, while Erin Bollmann knocked down deep threes for the Kahu. Wojta also came up with a big block as the Hoiho took a 17-11 lead into the second.
The Kahu responded with strong defensive pressure in the second quarter closing the gap to just two points at 26-24 with three minutes remaining. The Hoiho answered with Bec Pizzey knocking down three’s before slicing through the defence for an easy finish. The Hoiho took a 35-27 lead into halftime.
Tayla Dalton opened the third with a quick steal as the Hoiho continued to build their advantage, pushing the lead to 56-41 heading into the final quarter. The Kahu continued to fight but the Hoiho maintained control to finish the game with a 78-66 victory.

The Northern Kahu secured a 41-23 Rapid League victory over the Southern Hoiho after controlling the game from the opening quarter. The Kahu led 12-10 after a competitive first quarter, with strong defensive pressure and strong three point shooting keeping them in front. Shanique Lucas then helped the Kahu extend their advantage in the second quarter with three point shots and a steal, taking a 27-14 lead into halftime.
The Hoiho came out with more aggression after the break but the Kahu continued to control the game defensively. Lucas produced a huge block while Zoe Richards worked hard inside for the Hoiho. Northern Kahu remained in control heading into the final quarter leading 35-18.
The Hoiho opened the fourth with their first three pointer of the night but the Kahu quickly responded through strong rebounding and continued defensive pressure. Kayla Manuirirangi added another three point shot as the Kahu closed out a convincing 41-23 win.
