Result: ProcureX Mainland Pouākai (93) defeat ANZCO Tokomanawa Queens (90)
The Pouākai would come out of the gates looking in good form as they'd pile on early points while stifling the Queens offence. An early steal from Morgan Yaeger to Mckenna Dale would set the tone early while the Queens warmed up. It wouldn't take long for the home side to starting getting good looks. Charlisse and Krystal Leger-Walker would set the tone, setting up their teammates and eventually taking a 4 point lead. The Pouākai would remain viligent and manage to wrestle back the deficit in the second quarter, with the home side heading into the half with a 2 point lead.
Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis, a new Pouākai addition, would showcase her shooting ability throughout the match. She came out of the lockerroom and dropped in 3 3's in just over a minute. The Queens would call a timeout and plan their next attack. After ending up in a 10 point deficit, they'd close the gap and keep the game within a two possession game right until the last minute. It'd be the Pouākai who would end up keeping the gap with Kaleena making two clutch free throws to keep a 3 point lead on the Queens as they'd have 1.6 seconds left to tie the game. Something they couldn't quite do.
