SKY BROADBAND RAPID LEAGUE
Tauranga Whai [42] defeat the BNZ Northern Kāhu [39] in a thriller a game that needed extra time.
The Whai scraped past the Kāhu behind a strong performance from Sophia Locandro (15pts) who jumped into the game with a quick 5 points to give the Whai a 1 point lead heading into the second quarter. In search of their first win of the year Emma Schroeder hit a 3 to give the Kāhu their first lead of what turned into a back and forth game down the stretch. Coming into the 4th quarter both teams came out firing but down the stretch neither team could take control before Schroeder's flawless performance from the line tied up the game with seconds to go. Despite the Kāhu hustle the Whai showed why they are top of the league and pulled out the victory to keep the Kāhu winless in the Rapid League.
