Tauihi Basketball is Back!!

G.J. Gardner Homes Tauihi Basketball Aotearoa is thrilled to reveal the full 2025 schedule, tipping off Friday 26 September when the Mainland Pouākai host the Southern Hoiho to launch Tauihi Season 4. 

Fans won’t have to wait long for major matchups across T4: on Saturday 27 September, the defending champion Tauranga Whai host the Tokomanawa Queens in a rematch of last year’s grand final, while the Northern Kāhu welcome the Pouākai to Eventfinda Stadium to round out an action-packed opening weekend.

The Queens will play their first home game on Friday 4 October, hosting the Pouākai, while the Hoiho open their home campaign on Saturday 11 October in Dunedin against the Queens. The sure to be thrilling regular season then builds toward a blockbuster finale on Sunday 30 November, when the Kāhu host the Queens in a matchup that could shape the playoff race.

This year’s competition features five teams contesting 30 games across a 10-round regular season, culminating in a home finals series. The semi-finals will be hosted by the league’s top two seeds on Saturday 6 December and Sunday 7 December, before the highest remaining seed hosts the Grand Final on Sunday 14 December.

Rapid League returns and the fastest basketball game on the planet will tip off prior to every Tauihi regular season game, allowing fans see the stars of tomorrow develop their games on the hardwood. 

Every game will be broadcast live on Sky Sport in Aotearoa, ESPN in the United States and FIBA YouTube internationally.  Back by popular demand, every Sunday afternoon game will also stream live on Sky Sport’s TikTok channel—bringing the action to one of social media’s fastest growing platforms.

Following on from a strong 2024, the league will feature evolving locals and a further influx of international talent, ensuring fans get to see top quality entertainment featuring kiwi and international stars.

This schedule keeps building on what makes the league special—high-quality games, family-friendly times, and a stage for our incredible athletes to shine. We can’t wait to see fans in the stands and tuning in all season long.”

Games this season are mostly scheduled Friday through Sunday, with two Thursday games mixed in, making it easier for families and young fans to watch live. The innovative Rapid League also returns, showcasing emerging talent before every main game throughout the regular season.
