The Whai came into the Pouākai's house with a strong first quarter lead by Hannah Hank, who helped put the Whai up by 10 heading into the second quarter. But Abigail Fogg didn't let the early lead keep her down, coming off the bench with an 8pt burst to bring the game within three. The third quarter was a back-and-forth battle with Marena Whittle hitting a tough midrange two to tie up the game with 13 seconds left in the half, but the blow-for-blow continued as Laina Snyder continued her dominant game, hitting a buzzer-beater 3 to put The Whai up by 3 heading into the 4th. Tough defence faced from the Pouākai, tough play making from The Whai, as Jessica Mcdowell-White hit The Whai's second buzzer beater 3 of the game to put them up by 8 at the end of the third. The duo of Snyder and McDowell-White, who combined for over 50 points, was ultimately too much as the Whai took the victory to go 4 and 1.

Hustle brought the Pouākai back to their first lead of the game in the 4th quarter. After gaining the lead for the first time, the Pouākai never let it go and kept themselves ahead with a couple of threes between Emma Rogers and Kavanah Lene. In a tight game where every point counts, Pouākai's bench helped push them past the Whai with Esra Mcgoldrick coming off the bench to give 7pts in only 8 minutes.
